Songs I Purchased have
not Downloaded Songs which are having trouble downloading may be
caused by an intermittent problem with the server orĀ a configuration
issue on your computer thatĀ prevents the download from
completing.
Typically you will see the following symptoms:
- The song that you tried to purchase is listed with a status of
'Retrying' on the Download Status page.
- You see a status of 'Synchronizing' on the Download Status page after you tried to
purchase music, but the download doesn't proceed.
- You see a status of 'Completed' on the Download Status page after you tried to
purchase music, but you cannot locate the music anywhere on your
computer.
If you experience one of these symptoms, please try the
following:
- Check your system configuration with the MSN Music Download Troubleshooter. This will provide
you information on any system configuration issues you might have and
how to resolve them.
a. In order to successfully download music from MSN Music,
you need to install the MSN Music Assistant on your computer.
The troubleshooter will inform you in case you do not have this
installed.
- If the MSN Music Download Troubleshooter doesn't indicate
any configuration mismatches with MSN Music, then you may have some
firewall, anti-spyware application, web accelerator or other security
software installed on your computer which could be blocking MSN Music
and preventing your download from completing successfully. Alternately
your network configuration or proxy server settings could be blocking
the download.
Please note that since this issue could be caused a wide range of
third party software installed on your computer or by your network
configuration issues, we can only provide limited assistance. Please try
the following options:
a. Reconfigure or update your security software to unblock
MSN Music:
i. Please refer to the MSN Music FAQ page for instructions on
how to configure common firewalls, accelerators, anti-spyware to
work with MSN Music. ii. If your computer has some firewall,
anti-spyware, web accelerator or security software installed on it,
that is not covered on the MSN Music FAQ, please contact the
provider of the specific software that you have installed on your
computer, for instructions on how to enable MSN Music to download
music to your computer.
- You will need to get instructions on how to add the latest
version of MsnMusic.exe as an allowed application for each
firewall, anti-spyware, web accelerator or other security software
that may be installed on your computer.
- To locate the latest version of MsnMusic.exe on your computer,
use the following steps:

following path: C:\Program Files\MsnMusic b. Under the 'Look
in:' drop down menu, select the 'C:' drive. c. Double-click
the 'Program Files' folder. d. Double-click the

with the highest number. Select the

b. Reconfigure or update your
proxy settings:
i. If you use a proxy server for Internet connectivity, please
make sure that the proxy settings do not block access to MSN Music.
- Try disabling the proxy server during music download.
- Alternately, you can also try to add music.msn.com and
lic.music.msn.com to your Proxy Server's Exception list. Please
work with your network administrator or ISP for instructions on
how to do this.
c. Update your Trusted
Sites:
i. Make sure that music.msn.com is on your Trusted Sites list in
your Internet Options. In order to enable this:
- Click on the Tools menu in Internet Explorer.
- Select Options from the Menu.
- Click on the Security Tab.
- Select Trusted Sites and click on the 'Sites' button to add a
new trusted site.
- Uncheck the box that reads 'Require server verification
(https:) for all sites in this zone'.
- Type in http://music.msn.com and
http://lic.music.msn.com
in the 'Add this website to the Zone' box, one at
a time, and add them to the list.
- If the above steps do not resolve your issue, please also check the
following:
a. Close the MSN Music Assistant, and check the
Download Status page later to see if
they are processing. b. Ensure that your music
files aren't stored on a network share that uses automatic replication
from the client to server; such as

in case you are experiencing a server or connectivity
problem. |
