Sting, "The Last Ship"
Sure, he's never going to be cool again, but Sting doesn't care, and while no
one (except his millions of fans) was watching, he's stayed artistically
adventurous and vital. 2010's "Symphonicities" found the chief of Police working
with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra to create classical renditions of
mainstays such as "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic." "The Last Ship," out
Sept. 24, is a companion piece to the play of the same name that Sting's
producing for 2014. A semi-autobiographical production about growing up in
Northern England, "Ship" is his first collection of all-original material since
2003's "Sacred Love."
