Modern country icons reboot Nashville's look as well as its sound
By Michael Shilling Special to MSN Music
It used to be that country music's visual style held to a pretty narrow band.
You had your Stetson, your bolo tie and your cowboy boots. You were either
clean-shaven or full-bearded. You kept to solid colors and short hair heavy on
the pomade. Not anymore. Today's male country stars do what they please with
their appearance. Sometimes they don't even look "country" at all. To
demonstrate how much has changed, we put together a gallery showing the wide
range of today's country style, with a few old-school icons as benchmarks.
