English singer-songwriter Yusuf Islam emerged as a global star during the
1970s when he recorded as Cat Stevens, selling over 60 million albums
showcasing his gentle, melodic folk rock. In 1978 at the height of his critical
and popular acclaim, he converted to Islam and left his music career behind to
focus on education and philanthropy in the Muslim community. In 2006, he
returned with his first new album in 28 years, "An Other Cup." |
